This came from Mom's garden and the one I lost was like this but more blue. The baby caterpillers seem to like it this year. The flowers stand up tall above the leaves.
Now this is a columbine I have never seen. It's great ! Hopefully the one you lost will show up next year. I am going to think the same about my red. We will exchange them yet :)
They are in columbine heaven together - and clashing horribly ;) There is a red and white columbine called Canadiana (or something like that) - have you seen it? Doesn't look all that fantastic on it's own in a pot but someone down the road has a big patch and it looks awesome in bloom.
No, they aren't. They are biding their time in the ground waiting to offer us a nice surprise next year... or maybe they left a seed kicking around that will pop up next year. I haven't seen the red and white you are talking about other than in a catalogue but I did see it in one of them last fall.
