'Baron Katie'

I thought 'Gerrie Hoek' was going to open first but it turned out to be 'Baron Katie'. Planted on June 16 she was 6 weeks to bloom. 'Gerrie Hoek' is as open today but took much longer to bloom at 10 weeks, they were planted May 21.

Split Ends

The papyrus is getting quite tall and there are lots of new shoots too.  I sure hope I can find this again next year.

Blue Lace

You can see why they call it a lace-cap hydrangea.  Even the little blue knobs in the middle of the flowers will pop open.

Happy Accident

I was lining up a shot of the Guara when I heard a buzz go past my ear. I snapped the shutter quick and caught this little guy traveling through my frame.

Success

My Ranunculus is going to bloom :)

Photo Moments

Today I had my photo shoot with Rebecca and soon I will (finally) have a picture for my website.  We went to Fort Needham in Halifax and it was a great morning for it, even if a little windy.  I hate posing but Rebecca made it great fun.

Very Touching

This beautiful lily persists in being individual and every year I hope for babies.

'Cancun'

'Cancun' opened today. 'Madrid' is still my favorite but I like this one a lot.

Beating the Heat

She looks dead, doesn't she? She is actually just sleeping in the shade. She has creeped me out more than once with this pose though because when she is sleeping deep enough that her eyes open a bit and her tongue hangs out, she wakes up slow moving which is so unlike her.

Heather Buds

This heather out front by the driveway is starting to bud up for its 'Autumn Blaze'.  It's amazing this is even surviving where it is and this year it is thriving.

My Variegated Sedum

I think I might have a tag for this but it isn't handy. This sedum is growing in the Bird Sanctuary along the dry creek bed edge almost right at the bridge. The flowers open yellow and then the centre rises up orange to finally turn red and plump looking. The yellow petals fall and all you are left with is the red. It happens all over the plant all season so I can never catch it all yellow flowers or all red seed pods, it is always mixed. It is not spreading. It grows in a mound and it is very pretty. It is one of my favorite groundcovers and has been coming back reliably since 2005.

I don't know what this is...

but it sure is pretty.  These were supposed to be red asiatics according to the package.  The flowers are small for orientals but there will be lots and they smell heavenly.

I know what this is...

Lily 'Madrid', need I say more?

Stonehenge Under Construction

According to Kelly, once he gets a few more of those big boulders moved around, this will be a garden.  He's been at it for 2 whole days straight already.  I wonder how long the original Stonehenge construction took?  You'll notice that the old stump is gone along with all the piles of branches.

Hope for Humanity

This is my only red rose. Can you tell it is raining here? Thunderstorms all day.

Mojave - My Fav

Is this not one of the most beautiful lilies?  Unfortunately they're not very vigorous and the agastache got bigger than they did first.

Lily Days

The Hula are going strong, I can tell which buds are 'Orange Electric' now and my pink 'Renoir' opened today along with my white 'New Wave'. I forgot about both of these when making the list so the reasons to come are piling up ;)

Cupid's Dart

I just love these flowers but they are on tall stalks so really hard to get them to hold still for a picture.

Your red dianthus is liking it here!

Pick with Caution

Is the lesson of the day. Saskatoons and Raspberries are ready.

Annabelle is Blooming

The blooms are starting to open... amazing how fast it's filling in.  Seems to like its new location under the trees.

Blue and Green

Blue and green in the Bird Sanctuary today. The 'Halcyon' didn't miss a beat ! The Heliopsis, on the other hand, looks like a stick but I am watering the heck out of it, sending green thoughts all the while.

Something Strange

Enlarge this to see what stopped in our garden today.  Flying catfish?  Would another shot help?

Lily Puzzle

I checked every packing slip I could find, every map, every tag and the previously winter killed folder. This has to be 'Landini' or 'Fangio'. It should be 'Landini'. I will either go check pictures tomorrow night or the other lily will open so I can figure it out before then. Good thing it's red-orange because no matter what it is, it is planted beside the 'Orange Electric'.

An Empty Place

Danielle, lonely here today already!

Garden-to-Stay

Red and orange out front in the middle of a rain shower.

Garden-to-Go

All that's left to do is to pack my new Nova Scotia 'Garden to Go'.
