I think you're right! How did you figure that out so fast? Now that I know it doesn't bite, I'll get closer next time. We'd seen smaller ones last year and wondered if they were baby hummingbirds but the antenae was a puzzle.
I did a search on large moths in Canada. LOL ! So glad I found a good image because most of them were blurry. Sounds like they are kind of rare to see in your garden though so you are lucky and you can go near him now. My previous advice was going to be stay away until you know what it is. He looked like a flying little lobster. LOL !
