Sweet Pea at Front Deck

They are doing as well as the Nasturtium did last year in this spot. The dark green pad-like leaves of the Nasturtium made for a nicer contrast rising up through the Virginia Creeper though. I hoped these would have the added advantage of scent but not that I have noticed over the vetch blooming in the fields. Maybe once that is done. 'Pink Flame' opened.

  1. They're pretty and delicate though... I would never describe nasturium like that. Were these from seed?

  2. Yes. Sweet Pea are super simple from seed. You just have to plant early, they germinate in cool weather, don't like heat until they are up. I am disappointed with them though. Never done Sweet Pea before. I have 2 more packages of seed though and one plant takes quite a bit of verticle space so that will last me a few seasons for sure. Could be our overall lack of sun this year but I expected way more flowers on these.
