This is what I am calling Peony One (top view). So far, there is also a Peony Two but I expect by the time the Peony are done, I will be up to Peony Four or Five. One and Two grow together with a third, which I think is a duplicate of one of these but can never really remember, in the bird sanctuary top level. They smell wonderful.

Land of Little Sky
Hard to take a picture on our property without getting trees. The whispy cirrus clouds at the bottom looked like a dolphin till I ran to grab the camera, so you have to use your imagination.

Ninebark 'Center Glow'
For such a tiny thing, it survived the winter wonderfully. This year it should get some size. It is in the sun garden toward the field from the furthest 'John Cabot' Rose so very bright, dark pink blooming in front of it today.
Today is Yellow
After telling you I didn't have any other lilies blooming, I went outside and found this. This is the very first lily I ever bought and was supposed to be white. It's some kind of dwarf asiatic, and only a foot or so tall, so it's easy to miss. I have 2 patches of these now and one is hiding behind your orange lilies. The first of the Stella de Oro daylilies started to bloom today too. Nice to see some yellow!

Dropmore Opens
Botanus catalogue arrived today. They have a new 'Orange Angelique' that is already on my list of top five I might want to order and I noticed their 'Happy Generation' are on sale.
Rain, Rain, and more Rain
It's been raining hard off and on all day. At least everything under the trees will finally get watered. Too wet to go out so I took this pic from the front window. This is my ring garden on the other side of the driveway. The water often fills up around the centre 'island' and overflows. Here it's about halfway full.

First to Open
Delphinium have started opening today along with the red Dianthus. The Oriental Poppy is in full bud as well. Rained in the night but nothing yet today. I got all the Calla in as odd as that sounds on the 26th of June !
Blue Moon Catmint
This will fill in and have tons more blooms. It stays mostly upright except after a heavy rain, but then it pops up again in the sun. Directly behind it are 3 patches of phlox in different shades of pink.

On the Corner
This shrub is stephanandra and sits on the corner out front by the walkway. The flowers are described as 'insignificant' but after 3 years it has a nice covering of tiny blooms. In the fall, the wood all turns red so it still looks great even after losing its leaves.

Drowning Daisy
Wouldn't you know, the lone Painted Daisy bloom is on the one I accidentally uprooted in Spring. It's not a very big bloom but with our limited sun this year and my pulling it up, I was happy to see any bloom. There is another stalk on it with a bud too. We had another Summer storm today that made this little guy crash hard into the ground.
Funkidelic
Another Dutch iris, not completely opened but I got tired of running back and forth checking all day. This is going to be interesting as the rest of the buds open over the next couple of weeks.

Garden Genie
When I was a kid, this is a crystal decanter that Mom and Dad used for sherry when guests came over. I used to think it was just like the bottle on 'I Dream of Jeanie' and always begged to play with it. Now I finally get to!

Land of the Living Sky
Was outside this morning when I heard thunder in the distance. Then this came rolling in. Power went out. Just came back on. It's wet now. Anything new your way?
Orange Challenge
These are bright and wonderful and I can't seem to get them to grow into a patch. There is some debate online but the consensus seems to be that it's possible - but not for me yet. This is a new plant; my last stayed for 2 years.

An Old Friend
I've had this since the first year we were gardening and can never remember the name of "that tall pink stuff". The little tiny flowers are just starting to open so it'll look more pink than red soon. This blooms right through the summer but the first flush is always the best. Here's another shot of it from last week.

Entryway Patch
My pale yellow iris are open now. The white and purple are just starting on the other side of the entry.
Too Busy to Pose
Ta da! I took over 30 pictures and he just wouldn't stop moving. (And I did not use the zoom. Kelly was proud of me :)

Stranger than Fiction?
This is your Mom's Iris. Except it doesn't look like your Mom's Iris. It looks like the Iris you posted that I didn't know I had. Now that I see it, I think it is the double blue that came from Judy. I will get her to look when she is out this weekend. So something is up with my maps. Going to be a winter activity to go through the old maps and figure it out though. My current map definitely shows this spot as where I planted the second Iris from you. Maybe your Mom's will bloom too and I will figure it out sooner.

I take it back...
The blooms are just as nice as the buds this year. There are a lot more blooms in these patches than there were last year so I think they are officially established here. Must be time to divide them.

Saved the Tulips
In the end, I had to just pretend the lamium, phlox and allium shoots were weeds and just rip them up. Created space around the tulips and marked them so I can move them when they are done. I have two patches of the Angelique and two of Bastogne. There are others but not that were buried like these four. They are forecasting 3 inches of rain in the next 2 days.
Blue Iris
Last year we noticed one blue iris among the purple and thought it was just a fluke. But we did mark it and move it in the fall, hoping to start a new patch. This year that one didn't bloom at all but we have 2 more stalks of blue in the old patch. I remember now that we got some iris along with the yellow daylilies from Digby. They had never shown themselves so I forgot about them. What a wonderful surprise! The blooms are huge and they smell wonderful.

Bugs are my Friends
Well, maybe not my friends but I have a much better relationship with them than before I started gardening. I found this guy hanging on a stake in Kelly's garden and he posed nicely for me to take his picture.

Wild Pony Tail Grass
Came across this on the private road when walking K and Yoho today. It gets just over a foot tall where there isn't taller grass stunting it. All this rain has made mowing impossible for weeks or it wouldn't be there but there are carpets of it. I am thinking of replacing the annual fountain grass along the irrigation pipe at the shop with this. I wouldn't have to seed or replace it every year or it could be a disaster waiting to happen. Of course, all that will have to wait until the Dahlia are all in.

Buried 'Angelique'
My hands feel as gnarled as this 'Angelique' in the Nursery. Arthritis isn't fun today but I got almost all the Glads in :)
Butterfly Rescued
Kelly found this fellow (or gal) in the woods and brought him out to enjoy the garden. (Glad this blog is on your time :)

I Love Blue!
I really do! First bloom on this spiderwort this morning. This is a more common variety but I like the flower colour better than the Sweet Kate - it's more blue. This patch hides a big ugly stump perfectly. First of the oriental poppies also opened today.

Your Mom's Iris
I can't believe how tall they are ! My 'Deirdre' are really trying to open and the tulips look great today still. That is the Cerastium in the very back of the tulip photo. It is getting huge. No rain. Got a lot done but I am wiped out now.
Mom's Pinks
I'm starting to realize just how many plants I got from Mom's garden! These are just starting to bloom and I don't know the proper name. They form big patches and the stalks are about a foot tall. Even when they're not blooming, the bluish foliage looks great - until we get a rain storm.

Fooled Me!
At first glance this morning, I thought I had a new tulip trying to bud. Look closer... it's a clematis bud. Every time I walked by it I laughed so this had to be my picture for today.

'Flaming Parrot' Opening
'Flaming Parrot' are opening today and the 'Lipgloss' are really, really, red now with new buds still opening. I took a photo of the pink and lavender 'Salmon Impression' for you today. No sun. Lots more rain. They say now rain tomorrow and sun on the weekend. I'd get excited but if history is supposed to teach me something, that will change by the time the weekend gets here. By the way, did you check out the new preview? They changed it for the better.

'Davenport' Opening
The 'Davenport' started opening this morning and by afternoon, they were completely open and you could see the fringe. There is a 'Lipgloss' oddity occuring because we have had no sun and so it has developed a little "mini me" :)

Dwarf Fringed Bleeding Heart
Not huge by any stretch of the imagination but I have had it four years in three spots and this is the first time I am seeing it bloom. I think it's finally found a happy place and I am really loving it. I can see it from my seat in the dining room, just off the front deck.
Mom's Columbine
This came from Mom's garden and the one I lost was like this but more blue. The baby caterpillers seem to like it this year. The flowers stand up tall above the leaves.

Sweep of Tulips
You asked for a sweep of tulips and it is actually harder than I thought it would be to do that. A lot of the new tulips are shorter and now that most of them are blooming, there is other stuff in the way and it turns out it is not possible to take a photo around a curve! To give you perspective, I am standing at the entryway to the Firepit Yard beside the iris, taking the photo towards the Slide Garden. The white tulip in front is part of the 'Plum Pudding Mix' and there are 3 patches of them going that direction out toward the 'Therese Bugnet' Roses along the lawn. The next are the 'Zurel' and they go to the left all along the drive to the Siberian Iris. To the right of the 'Zurel' is the new Dwarf Burning Bush I put in last Fall. Then come the 'Gavota' with 'Happy Generation' beside them out of the frame but you can see the second patch of them just opening between the 'Gavota' and the carnation which... I think... might be 'King of Blacks'. Just above and to the right of the 'Gavota' blooms, is the first patch of 'Flaming Parrot' Tulips that are in full bud but not yet open. Above from that in the center are the 'Davenport', which partially opened early this morning when we had some sun. The Davenport go around that corner to the right out of view. They are directly behind the 'Therese Bugnet', so follow that curve. At the top is the row going around the Slide end, starting with the 'Mickey Mouse' and 'Ballerina' in front of them. There are 'Deirdre' behind and beside the 'Mickey Mouse' but they are also in full bud rather than in bloom today. Then the 'Monte Carlo' and 'Calgary Flame' and if you could see more off to the left, you would see the 'Mickey Mouse' repeat at the end of that row. The 'Opus' Lily Kelly brought is directly behind the the 'Calgary Flame' and those are Narcissus shoots in front of them. The Lily beside the 'Opus' is the multi-flowering pink 'Elodie'. Your Moms' Iris is directly behind the largest 'Monte Carlo' patch (one on the right) and has two buds today. Although, they are actually on the other side of the slide from the tulips. Hard to get depth and length in the same shot while trying to fit in the most variety of tulips. LOL ! I am linking the 'Antoinette' and 'Happy Generation' on Sleepy Hollow because they both changed color today.
Carrie's Poppy
My gardening neighbour up the road gave me a few of these a couple of years ago and they've been seeding and coming back ever since. I think I finally identified them - Papaver atlanticum 'Flore Pleno'. They're about 2-3 inches wide and in the sunlight they seem paler than this.

Nursery Unknown Pink
This is the unknown pink in the Nursery. Might be 'Christmas Marvel'. Could be 'Sweet Love'. Could be something I don't have a tag for. I caught the 'Salmon Impression' open wide today along with more 'Ballerina' showing up with the Slide Garden tulips.
