Only one bloom so far but several buds and even more greenery!
Note to self: This is 'Tahiti'

How Sad.
More hope for next year. My 'Mickey Mouse' survived the late fall move but the blooms are really, really short.

Gavota
The patch I thought was Davenport turned out to be Gavota. I haven't found anywhere near all the tulips and there are two blooming that I need to look up because I can't identify them off the top of my head. But I am super happy to see these!

Second Bloom of the Season
Tulip 'Chopin', blooming today. I missed the lone Crocus bloom about a mile from the house. Going to post a dried up picture of it on sleepy hollow.

Bulbs are in
They have arrived even though it's too early to plant. Got a bonus bag of daffodils, of all things. I'll plant them anyway and give them another shot.

Saved the Tulips
In the end, I had to just pretend the lamium, phlox and allium shoots were weeds and just rip them up. Created space around the tulips and marked them so I can move them when they are done. I have two patches of the Angelique and two of Bastogne. There are others but not that were buried like these four. They are forecasting 3 inches of rain in the next 2 days.Monday, June 14, 2010
Buried 'Angelique'
My hands feel as gnarled as this 'Angelique' in the Nursery. Arthritis isn't fun today but I got almost all the Glads in :)

'Flaming Parrot' Opening
'Flaming Parrot' are opening today and the 'Lipgloss' are really, really, red now with new buds still opening. I took a photo of the pink and lavender 'Salmon Impression' for you today. No sun. Lots more rain. They say now rain tomorrow and sun on the weekend. I'd get excited but if history is supposed to teach me something, that will change by the time the weekend gets here. By the way, did you check out the new preview? They changed it for the better.Wednesday, June 9, 2010
'Davenport' Opening
The 'Davenport' started opening this morning and by afternoon, they were completely open and you could see the fringe. There is a 'Lipgloss' oddity occuring because we have had no sun and so it has developed a little "mini me" :)Monday, June 7, 2010
Sweep of Tulips
You asked for a sweep of tulips and it is actually harder than I thought it would be to do that. A lot of the new tulips are shorter and now that most of them are blooming, there is other stuff in the way and it turns out it is not possible to take a photo around a curve! To give you perspective, I am standing at the entryway to the Firepit Yard beside the iris, taking the photo towards the Slide Garden. The white tulip in front is part of the 'Plum Pudding Mix' and there are 3 patches of them going that direction out toward the 'Therese Bugnet' Roses along the lawn. The next are the 'Zurel' and they go to the left all along the drive to the Siberian Iris. To the right of the 'Zurel' is the new Dwarf Burning Bush I put in last Fall. Then come the 'Gavota' with 'Happy Generation' beside them out of the frame but you can see the second patch of them just opening between the 'Gavota' and the carnation which... I think... might be 'King of Blacks'. Just above and to the right of the 'Gavota' blooms, is the first patch of 'Flaming Parrot' Tulips that are in full bud but not yet open. Above from that in the center are the 'Davenport', which partially opened early this morning when we had some sun. The Davenport go around that corner to the right out of view. They are directly behind the 'Therese Bugnet', so follow that curve. At the top is the row going around the Slide end, starting with the 'Mickey Mouse' and 'Ballerina' in front of them. There are 'Deirdre' behind and beside the 'Mickey Mouse' but they are also in full bud rather than in bloom today. Then the 'Monte Carlo' and 'Calgary Flame' and if you could see more off to the left, you would see the 'Mickey Mouse' repeat at the end of that row. The 'Opus' Lily Kelly brought is directly behind the the 'Calgary Flame' and those are Narcissus shoots in front of them. The Lily beside the 'Opus' is the multi-flowering pink 'Elodie'. Your Moms' Iris is directly behind the largest 'Monte Carlo' patch (one on the right) and has two buds today. Although, they are actually on the other side of the slide from the tulips. Hard to get depth and length in the same shot while trying to fit in the most variety of tulips. LOL ! I am linking the 'Antoinette' and 'Happy Generation' on Sleepy Hollow because they both changed color today.

Nursery Unknown Pink
This is the unknown pink in the Nursery. Might be 'Christmas Marvel'. Could be 'Sweet Love'. Could be something I don't have a tag for. I caught the 'Salmon Impression' open wide today along with more 'Ballerina' showing up with the Slide Garden tulips.

Tulips Still
We got a half day of sun today with no rain yet although it is threatening. It made a huge difference for the tulips. I have 'Davenport', 'Flaming Parrot', 'Black Parrot' and 'Deirdre' budding. The 'Gavota' opened for awhile but were shut again by the time I recharged the camera. These are the 'Salmon Impression' today and I am linking more tulips on Sleepy Hollow. Friday, June 4, 2010
Mickey Mouse
The 'Micky Mouse' opened today and I got a sunlit photo of the 'Abu Hassan'. We had no rain today but the sun still struggled to shine so it was intermittent throughout the day. I heard it was supposed to be sunny tomorrow but you know how rumours are. The 'Calgary Flame' and Anemone both started blooming today as well. I am linking more flower photos at Sleepy Hollow.Wednesday, June 2, 2010
Playmates
These little friends came from Tobi the year she got married in our yard in Regina. They have lasted well and both the 'Zurel' Tulips, which are still going strong, and the Siberian Iris, which are in bud, are taller than they are. I found new red tulips and pale pink ones in the Nursery. Two patches of each. Judy came for coffee and we strolled the yard 5 or 6 times... found something new each time. Linking more new tulip photos at Sleepy Hollow.

The Plan From Last Fall
I love it when a plan comes together. This is almost exactly like I pictured it last year. It is the bed by the firepit slide that Kelly dug. You can see the 'Calgary Flame' Tulips between the 'Monte Carlo' Tulips. The shoots coming up between them are Narcissus 'Tahiti' and in the very front are the Grape Hyacinth but only one lone one is blooming so far. The Painted Daisy to the right of the front 'Monte Carlo' patch is the one I uprooted as a weed but it looks recovered. The Iris up from that are one of the ones you sent out... I think the one you liked more. The cages are moved from there now, I did that after I took the photo. All three Spirea came back and up in the very top right is the Cerastium that I moved last fall. It started opening today. The 'Ballerina' tulips are just to the right of this with the Painted Daisy. For a new bed last year, I couldn't be happier that everything seems to have survived the winter. We will see for sure when the lily are all in bloom and I can see if any are missing.

Tulip 'Lipgloss'
The Tulips are starting to bloom in the bird sanctuary. These 'Lipgloss' are the first. Behind them is the Hosta 'Sun Power'. I need to get to the dandelions in the nursery on the other side of the fence.
