Doesn't this look like a perfect little dwarf? Other than all my dwarf are early blooming and this little guy is blooming waaayyyy late. It is a double blue which are normally very tall. This is one of the iris that spent the winter in a plastic bag beside the house and were forgotten until really late in the spring when I noticed little green bits in the bag. I planted them all and this is the only one that bloomed. Good one to open though because I thought I had lost all my double blue. This is the only one I saw this year at all.

Japanese iris

The first bloomed today but this patch has lots of buds so it should be more impressive for Sunday. These are right up at chin level and bigger blooms than any of the bearded iris. The petals are very crepe-ish.

Summer Sun

I didn't even notice her until I was looking at the photos on my computer.

David

I am pretty sure this is 'David' and the really good news is that I think at least two of the other phlox are back as well!

Digby blues

These are without a doubt the most impressive bearded iris we have. The flowers are big, the leaves are big, and it's tall.

I think they'd be cool right next to the yellow Japanese iris you can see in the background. Or with my early yellow Digby daylilies. There might be a change before next year :)

Oops

 

This patch has been here 9 years and this is the first time this has happened. Obviously, I got something confused when I divided last year!

Lawn!

The mower part arrived so we have lawn again. It does a much better job of setting off the garden when it is mowed.

Siberian Iris

Yesterday they were all buds but today they started to open! Whoo Hoo!

Cary's Yellow

Blooming in Judy's yard now. She is moving the deep burgundy iris to beside this one for next year. This year, they bloomed at the same time. My pale yellow are all opening now too.

Rhubarb and Iris

My rhubarb is awesome. I plan to harvest it this week.

Blue and White Opened

The german purple are all almost done and the blue and white opened today. This is the first patch of this variety to open. It is off the front deck next to the rhubarb. Everything in that spot is early and big this year so far.

Judy's Burgundy

Judy's burgundy like your burgundy? Either way, I hope one, the other... or both bloom here soon!!

Ghostly unknown iris

It's pretty much pure white when fully opened as opposed to the pale blue when in bud. Definitely not Orange Harvest but I'm not disappointed. This one blooms lower than many of the other bearded iris.

Surprise iris

This is supposed to be 'Orange Harvest', which would have been nice but this is also a pleasant surprise. Now I just have to figure out its name!

German Purple

Isn't that odd. Your German Purple is way more burgundy than mine. I wonder if that is a soil trick. Yours looks closer to the colour I expect Midnight Oil to be.

Unknown iris in the 'henge

It looks like it's hugging a rock because it is. When I went back to take this shot the only bloom open so far had broken over in the heavy rain earlier. Not sure if a sideways shot is better than upside down :)

Entryway Patch

My pale yellow iris are open now. The white and purple are just starting on the other side of the entry.

I take it back...

The blooms are just as nice as the buds this year. There are a lot more blooms in these patches than there were last year so I think they are officially established here. Must be time to divide them.

Your Mom's Iris

I can't believe how tall they are ! My 'Deirdre' are really trying to open and the tulips look great today still. That is the Cerastium in the very back of the tulip photo. It is getting huge. No rain. Got a lot done but I am wiped out now.

Sweep of Tulips

You asked for a sweep of tulips and it is actually harder than I thought it would be to do that. A lot of the new tulips are shorter and now that most of them are blooming, there is other stuff in the way and it turns out it is not possible to take a photo around a curve! To give you perspective, I am standing at the entryway to the Firepit Yard beside the iris, taking the photo towards the Slide Garden. The white tulip in front is part of the 'Plum Pudding Mix' and there are 3 patches of them going that direction out toward the 'Therese Bugnet' Roses along the lawn. The next are the 'Zurel' and they go to the left all along the drive to the Siberian Iris. To the right of the 'Zurel' is the new Dwarf Burning Bush I put in last Fall. Then come the 'Gavota' with 'Happy Generation' beside them out of the frame but you can see the second patch of them just opening between the 'Gavota' and the carnation which... I think... might be 'King of Blacks'. Just above and to the right of the 'Gavota' blooms, is the first patch of 'Flaming Parrot' Tulips that are in full bud but not yet open. Above from that in the center are the 'Davenport', which partially opened early this morning when we had some sun. The Davenport go around that corner to the right out of view. They are directly behind the 'Therese Bugnet', so follow that curve. At the top is the row going around the Slide end, starting with the 'Mickey Mouse' and 'Ballerina' in front of them. There are 'Deirdre' behind and beside the 'Mickey Mouse' but they are also in full bud rather than in bloom today. Then the 'Monte Carlo' and 'Calgary Flame' and if you could see more off to the left, you would see the 'Mickey Mouse' repeat at the end of that row. The 'Opus' Lily Kelly brought is directly behind the the 'Calgary Flame' and those are Narcissus shoots in front of them. The Lily beside the 'Opus' is the multi-flowering pink 'Elodie'. Your Moms' Iris is directly behind the largest 'Monte Carlo' patch (one on the right) and has two buds today.  Although, they are actually on the other side of the slide from the tulips. Hard to get depth and length in the same shot while trying to fit in the most variety of tulips. LOL ! I am linking the 'Antoinette' and 'Happy Generation' on Sleepy Hollow because they both changed color today.
