I'm sure she was shivering in fright the whole time I was near her so I got in and got out fast. This nest is only 4 feet off the ground and I'm surprised the neighbourhood cats haven't found it. Hopefully she'll be able to hold them off till her eggs hatch.
Oh, poor girl! I really hope the cats don't catch on but that seems unlikely with the number of them that pass through your yard. Reminds me of the year the swallows built under out eaves, not realizing the siding was wood and the cats can climb it if they really focus. As soon as babies arrived, Jake attacked. Jake won. We have actively discouraged nesting at the house ever since.
